Post Graduate Work Permit
Overview
The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows international students who have graduated from eligible Canadian post-secondary institutions to gain valuable Canadian work experience. The PGWP is an open work permit, meaning that it allows the holder to work for any employer in Canada and is an important step for international graduates who wish to apply for permanent residence through programs like the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Key Features of the PGWP
- Open Work Permit: Allows the holder to work for any employer in Canada without the need for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
- Duration: The length of the PGWP depends on the length of the study program completed, up to a maximum of three years.
- Pathway to Permanent Residence: Canadian work experience gained through the PGWP can help graduates qualify for permanent residence.
