Overview

  1. Education

    • Points are awarded based on the level of education and the area of training. Higher points are given for degrees and diplomas that are in demand in Quebec.

  2. Work Experience

    • Points are awarded for the number of years of full-time work experience in a skilled occupation.

  3. Age

    • Younger candidates receive higher points, with the maximum points awarded to those between the ages of 18 and 35.

  4. Language Proficiency

    • Points are awarded for proficiency in French and English. French proficiency carries more weight in the selection process.

  5. Validated Job Offer

    • Additional points are awarded if the candidate has a valid job offer from an employer in Quebec.

  6. Family Situation

  7. Financial Self-Sufficiency

    • Candidates must sign a contract demonstrating their financial self-sufficiency for the first three months after arriving in Quebec.

Application Process

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)

    • Candidates must submit an EOI through the Arrima portal, Quebec’s online immigration application management system.

  2. Invitation to Apply (ITA)

    • Candidates with the highest scores and profiles that meet the needs of Quebec are invited to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).

  3. Submit Application for CSQ

    • Upon receiving an ITA, candidates must submit a complete application for a CSQ, including all required documents and fees.

  4. Processing and Decision

    • Quebec’s immigration authorities review the application and make a decision. If approved, the candidate receives a CSQ.

  5. Apply for Permanent Residence

    • With a CSQ, candidates must apply to the federal government for permanent residence. This involves medical, criminal, and security checks.

  6. Final Steps

    • Once approved by the federal government, candidates receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and can move to Quebec.
